What the hell is the matter with you, Justicia???
AS I POSTED EARLIER, I am starting to suspect this may be semantics...AND it may have everything to do with my legal background. Law places much emphasis on the difference between saying something in the postive and saying something in the negative, e.g., Negative= I am not for legislation requiring the registration of Muslims, Positive=I stand against legislation requiring the registration of Muslims.
The negative requires no action; the positive requires action.
The effects between the two were well documented in Nazi Germany, but since THAT seems to be a loaded analogy, allow me to provide another.
Negative=I don't think it is right to rape women (no action). Postive= I will stop any person I see trying to rape a woman (action).
Another demonstration of positive v. negative.
If your wife asks you if you love her...it would probably be best NOT to respond to her as you did to me...with a "do I REALLY have to answer that?" It would be best to respond with a postive, "YES I DO!"

Dark Side, I think you might misunderstand. No one that I know of is asserting they we should maintain our standards so that they will copy us, though it would be great if they did.
We are saying that we need to not harm ourselves by lowering our standards to theirs.
Ah.
So, according to your logic, we should stand patiently and placidly in the line of fire. If we fight back, we will only lower our own standards, by which we will be harming ourselves
The minister is not in the line of fire, nor is he part of the military. Last time I checked, they were in charge of national security AND, we seem to be firing back just fine. ;)

Justitia has not disavowed those Quran verses, she must obviously be for violent jihad against any that do not accept the message of Allah.
BTS
Document that. BTW, Justitia is not Muslim, so...it's not really for me to "disavow" since I have no "vow" to the book.

JWoods, by that reasoning used against you, if someone starts a Holocaust or slavery thread, and you don't mention how wrong it was in your post, then obviously you are for it.
BTS\
Incorrect BTS. However, if someone directly asks you if you are against the Holocaust or slavery, and you kibbutz and refuse to answer the question directly, that person does have the right to wonder just where you stand.
JWoods...you are expending an incredible amount of energy NOT answering the question. :) Tee hee.... "Me thinks thou doth protest too much."

You seem completely unable to grasp one simple fact Woods. We are supposed to be better than this. The Taliban/Muslim Extremists are.............gasp! Extreme!!!! Well, duh. Are we supposed to be gauging our standards by them? I want to know what it is about America that the righties supposedly love so much when they are always trying to bring us down to the lowest levels. Yes, sometimes you can win over your opponent by being "better" than them and hoping they will rise to your standards Dark Side, I think you might misunderstand. No one that I know of is asserting they we should maintain our standards so that they will copy us, though it would be great if they did. We are saying that we need to not harm ourselves by lowering our standards to theirs. |

If you look at the thread, I posted the question incredulously that anyone could actually believe I was for registering Muslims in the U.S. like foreign agents.
Still can't quite write those words, can you.
I looked at your response, and immdiately responded that you DID need to state just that.

I think Justicia really owes me an apology
JWoods, you do realize that all I did was post some of your responses from other posts. Just for what in particular would you have me aplogize?
I am sorry though. I really, really truly am sorry that you posted those comments.
There is one interesting nuance to your claim that you do not support registering Muslims. That is NOT an answer to the question posted. The question posted was will you state with certainty, for the record, that you would stand AGAINST any legislation to register Muslims. So far, you have not answered that question.
Allow me to demonstrate the nuance. History tells us that there was a substantial number of Germans who didn't really support Hitler, but there were less Germans who stood against Hitler.
Perhaps it is just semantics, and that you stand AGAINST such legislation is what you really meant. If that is true, then you need to say that. It really is very simple.

Jwoods never advocated Muslim registration.

he was unable to state difinitively that he was against forcing Muslims to register.
